Dr. Ronald Farabaugh, D.C.

Our mission is to provide the most scientific evidence-based,
chiropractic care possible, while maintaining patient
satisfaction and our office guarantee; and become “the” resource
for chiropractic related information and research in
Columbus Ohio.
Our Office Guarantee is simple and reflects the integrity
of our staff:
- If we can help, we will provide
specific recommendations.
- If we cannot help, we will tell
you that as well, and suggest an appropriate referral.
Dr. Ronald Farabaugh, Dr. Mark
Marohl, and Dr. Christina Phillips offer the most evidence-based,
scientific approach to Chiropractic healthcare available
today. We review the literature every week in an effort
to keep abreast of the latest and greatest in the healthcare industry.
Our attention to science and commitment to excellence has lead
to our reputation as arguably “the” resource
for Chiropractic-related and health information in not
only Columbus, but around the state of Ohio.
Additionally,
we have access to some of the most intelligent and respected
health professionals around the state and country. If we
do not know the answer to your question, we will search
the field until we find an answer. The Chiropractic profession
offers some brilliant minds from which we can draw information.
We also network outside of the profession when necessary
and maintain an extensive list of medical professionals willing to work
with Doctors of Chiropractic for the good of you, the patient.
Company History
It all began in March of 1982 - Graduation from Palmer
College of Chiropractic! Then it was off to Pataskala,
Ohio for my first job as a licensed chiropractor. I began
my career under the tutelage of Dr. Joe Orr in Pataskala.
I functioned as an exam doctor from March until September
of 1982 when I successfully passed the test administered by the State
Board of Chiropractic Examiners to become officially licensed in Ohio
as a chiropractic physician. I treated my first patient in September
of 1982 and worked alongside Dr. Orr for two years, until September
of 1984. My association with a doctor as respected as Joe Orr proved
extremely valuable to me for many years to come. I learned a tremendous
amount about nutrition, specific spinal adjusting, and case management
during my time with Dr. Orr. His work ethic and reputation in the community
was inspirational. I have fond memories of Dr. Orr and the Orr Chiropractic
Clinic.
In September of 1984, after being turned down by 5
different banks, I obtained a loan and moved into my
own practice. I opened in a small strip center on Karl
Road with one chiropractic assistant and myself. The space was limited,
1800 square feet, but it proved a nice place to cultivate a developing
practice. In fact, the practice grew so quickly that I soon had to bring
on an associate doctor and two more staff.
We rapidly outgrew our small clinic and were busting
at the seams. So, stepping out on faith, we purchased
a parcel of land just east of 161 and Cleveland Avenue.
Over the next few years we paid off that land, and with
another giant leap of faith broke ground on a new 8000
square foot clinic in 1992. It would prove to be the
largest chiropractic facility in the city of Columbus, and still is
to this day (2008).
1992 was a challenging year. We built our clinic. I herniated a disc
in my low back. We bought a house, sold a house, and adopted a new baby
boy, Alex. When our foundation was 80% excavated we hit an underground
river that flooded the entire hole. We had to re-survey, move the building
site 5 feet in elevation and 10 feet to the west, requiring us to build
steps into our first floor and install a wheelchair ramp. Unfortunately,
the American Disabilities Act was implemented during my construction,
and as a result the inspectors made us upgrade our foundation, electrical
wiring, drywall on the basement ceiling, and install one-hour fire-rated
doors in all treatment rooms. The ADA cost us over $50,000 in upgrades,
but we persevered, completed construction, and moved into our new facility
in the fall of 1992.
Since establishing the Farabaugh Chiropractic Clinic
at 2879 East Dublin-Granville Road, we’ve trained over 20 associate
doctors, and have been responsible for many students
entering the chiropractic profession. I was quite proud
of my record of work ethic, missing only 1 day of work
in 25 years due to sickness. I was humbled however, and on November
6, 2007 underwent a total hip replacement, causing me to miss 3 months
of work. Thank God for my associates, Dr. Marohl and Dr. Phillips.

Throughout my career I’ve stayed involved with
my profession. It all began when I was elected secretary/treasurer
of the Central Ohio Chiropractic Association (COCA) in
the mid 80’s.
I moved through the chairs and was elected President
of COCA. I became a district director of the Ohio State
Chiropractic Association (OSCA), eventually moving
through the chairs to become elected President of the
OSCA in 1996. During that time period I was also appointed
by Governor Voinovich to serve on the HealthCare Advisory
Council, charged with bringing a managed care model to
the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation
in Ohio. We helped formulate what would eventually be
called the Healthcare Partnership Program (HPP) and Qualified
Healthcare Plan (QHP). A few years later my association
asked to become involved in a national group formulating
a best practice guideline for the entire chiropractic
profession. I started serving the Council on Chiropractic
Guidelines and Practice Parameters (CCGPP) as a representative.
I moved through the ranks and now hold the position of
vice-president, and if history repeats itself will Chair
that committee in 2009 or 2010.
We continue to grow and adapt to the many changes in
the healthcare marketplace. Currently (as of 2008) we are
planning on evolving into a multi-DC, multi-disciplinary wellness clinic,
and lead the Columbus market in chiropractic care and wellness. |
